A message to my clients in these uncertain circumstances. We are all in the same boat as we deal with CV19 as it unfolds around us. Here are some things you can do to cope with these unpredictable circumstances and the probability of working from home and home schooling.

Be prepared:

Identify how you will self isolate in your home if it comes to it. You can designate a room for self isolation, towels, toiletries etc and agree a plan with those you live with so everyone is informed. Then you don’t need to worry about this again! The link below from the NHS provides further information.

Communication:

Create a daily mechanism to stay in touch with friends, neighbours, relatives. Utilise the landline, FaceTime, video conferencing apps, agree to a daily chat with a neighbour at the bottom of the garden.

Restrict media and keep it real:

Catch up on the news (from reliable, bonafide sources) and updates at specific times of the day, and then refrain from constantly checking in on what’s going wrong in the world and be aware of fake news. This will allow you to stay present and reduce anxiety.

Have fun:

Think up some activities you can do at home, google ideas and list them. Gardening, cooking, meditation, yoga, arts and crafts, puzzles, reading, writing, sewing, music, sudoku, dance, sing, board games etc. Get creative!

Routine:

Create a routine that includes work/school work and also meals, time to relax, time to challenge your brain, exercise, laugh and socialise via tele communications.

Stay healthy and happy:

Eat as well as you can, have more fresh produce. Get your 8 hours sleep. This will keep you healthy in body and mind.

Stay kind:

If there is an opportunity to do something for someone else, act on it. Your kindness could help someone truly in need. We all live near somebody that will be vulnerable. This is the time to show compassion.

Start the day the way you mean to finish it:

Start and end your day with relaxation and calm. This is a great time to get yourself into new self-care based habits!

I hope my readers find some clarity and helpful ideas here in these challenging times. Stay well.
